SSD form factors and their specific use cases

You recently answered a question about what variety of form factors exist for enterprise flash storage. What are each of those SSD form factors typically used for? They each are suited to specific use cases, right?

2.5" solid state disk (SSD) -- 2.5" SSDs are devices that can be used as local drives in a server or in internal storage solutions as either a high-speed caching tier or as a tier of high-speed persistent storage.

PCIe memory card -- A PCIe card, coupled with caching engine software, is a popular server-side caching solution that offers even better performance than using a 2.5" SSD.

Tiered storage systems -- These storage systems are about economics. This is a lower-cost solution to all-solid state storage arrays, but still has the ability to accelerate workloads by identifying hot blocks and keeping them stored in persistent solid state storage.  

All-SSD arrays -- These systems are usually used in IO-intensive workloads that have low latency requirements, like high-volume transactional environments or cloud multi-tenancy environments.
