Definition

solid state module (SSM)

A solid state module is solid state storage that resides in a Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM) or similar form factor.

SSMs, which are typically smaller in physical size than solid state cards (SSCs), have lower capacity and are often used in mobile devices when small size is more important than performance.

SSM standards are overseen by the JEDEC JC-11 subcommittee.
