feature the LSISAS2108 6 Gbps SAS RAID-on-Chip (ROC) and deliver up to 2.88 GBps in sequential reads and 1.87 GBps in sequential writes. The new controllers have been designed to integrate with existing 3Gbps SATA and SAS infrastructure.
The new 6 Gbps SAS cards support self-discovery/self-configuring expanders, longer cables, standardized zoning, 512 MB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, and are bundled with MegaRAID Storage Manager.
Solid-state storage raises bar for database performance
Fusion-io disclosed TPC-H benchmark test results for its solid-state storage device running with Dell Inc. hardware and Microsoft Windows. The tested system achieved 28,772 QphH (Query-per-Hour Performance Metric) on a 100 GB database, at a cost of $1.47 per database transaction. These results were accomplished using a single Dell PowerEdge T610 server equipped with four Fusion-io 80 GB ioDrives, running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition x64 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Edition x64.Syncsort names CEO, gets funding
