and cloud computing environments. The partnership includes board-level products that integrate LSI's SAS and PCIe technology with Seagate solid-state drive (SSD) technology.
Seagate claims that the new products will speed up enterprise application processing and help reduce I/O latency by using standards-based interfaces and protocols to minimize the impact to existing end-user infrastructures. Product samples are expected to be available to OEM customers next quarter.

Voltaire adds 40 Gbps InfiniBand switch
Voltaire Ltd. launched the Grid Director 4036E, a 40 Gbps InfiniBand switch with an Ethernet gateway for bridging traffic between InfiniBand and Ethernet networks. The Grid Director includes 34 40 Gbps InfiniBand ports, two 1 Gigabit Ethernet or 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, an InfiniBand switch, and a built-in hardware-based low-latency Ethernet gateway.
Hitachi Data Systems guarantees capacity savings
Hitachi Data Systems Corp. instituted a Storage Capacity Reclamation Guarantee program for customers using its storage and Dynamic Provisioning software and Storage Reclamation Service. HDS promises rebates to customers who do not reduce storage capacity by 50% when migrating to HDS Universal Storage Platform (USP) V or VM systems from other vendors' RAID 1 storage or 20% when migrating from a RAID 5 set up. The rebate includes the price of the difference between the storage reduction guarantee and actual storage used.
Stratify acquires LIT to enhance its electronic discovery capabilities
Iron Mountain Inc. subsidiary and electronic discovery provider Stratify Inc. has acquired Legal Imaging Technologies Inc. (LIT) to augment its eDiscovery capabilities. LIT provides enhanced electronic document conversion and imaging. No acquisition price was disclosed.

Asigra Inc. introduced its Cloud API to allow integration of its Hybrid Cloud Backup and Recovery software with a broad selection of cloud storage services. The Cloud API opens access to various cloud storage providers, including Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Nirvanix Inc. Storage Delivery Network, Google GDrive, Rackspace Inc. Cloud and Yahoo! 3PAR Inc. has rolled out software plug-ins for VMware Inc's. vSphere and vCenter Server. The software provides virtual machine (VM) snapshots, online VM recovery and VM-to-storage mapping, as well as protection and management capabilities for cloud storage.

Quantum Corp. has qualified its DXi-Series disk backup deduplication appliances with Symantec Corp. Backup Exec 2010. Quantum also offers Symantec OST-optimized systems for NetBackup and DXi-Series dedupe appliances with disk-to-tape support for Backup Exec environments.

ExaGrid Systems Inc. announced the integration of its disk backup system with Symantec Backup Exec 2010. ExaGrid claims the integration provides control and tracking of all data copies, simplified DR, shorter backup windows and local site retention of backup data.
GreenBytes' GB-X Series qualified for NetBackup OST
GreenBytes Inc. said its GB-X Series deduplication appliances can now be used with NetBackup through Symantec OpenStorage Technology (OST). The OST integration will allow customers to use the NetBackup interface, which provides a single point of management for data protection. GreenBytes claims the OST integration will let customers manage backups and the moving of electronic vaulting disaster recovery (DR) copies offsite.
