According to Toshiba Storage, the THNSNF lineup is supposed to take advantage of 19nm NAND flash memory, which Toshiba said makes the drives useful for light notebooks, external storage devices and other functions. The company said the drives also exceed the Business Applications Performance Corp.’s MobileMark 2007 benchmark for battery life.
The drives also useToggle MLC NAND flash, which Toshiba said is faster than synchronous or asynchronous NAND flash. The company also said that it would use its Quadruple Swing-By Code error-correction technology.
The drives will be available in 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB storage sizes, Toshiba said. The drives also will come in one of two form factors, including 9.5 mm or 7 mm. The company will also manufacture a mini-SATA version of the drive in 64 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB sizes.
Production will begin in August, according to the company.
